Celebrating 3 Years!

The Aloha Lomi Massage Academy opened in April 2011 and the first class started in September.   We will be celebrating 3 years soon and we’ve graduated about 20 students and eight more students from the current class. Our licensed graduates are sought after for their ability to address problems and their use of authentic Mana Lomi techniques that have been handed down through generations of Hawaiian healers.  Our students are taught to honor and bring through this lineage with the utmost integrity.  We are very grateful to everyone who has contributed to and been a part of the success of Aloha Lomi Massage Academy!...

Our First Class Officially Graduates!

The first class from Aloha Lomi Massage Academy has officially graduated!  What a wonderful year we have had, and these fine students are taking their exams and will be available for professional massages very soon.  They have put in many hours of providing their loving hands to the community (and each other), and the feedback has been very positive.  Some of the comments have been “this is the best massage I’ve ever had!”; “this student should be graduated already!”; “we’ll be back!”, and many, many more very positive feedback forms have returned.  Please send your congratulations to all of these fine haumana, and remember that our clinic is ongoing with our second class.  The next series of classes will be begin on October 29, 2012, and it is already filled; we do have a waiting list, so give us a call today!...

Aloha Kumu Levon Ohai

Some people touch or lives in such a way that completely changes everything.  I had the privilege and honor to be a haumana of Kumu Levon Ohai in three workshops here on Kaua’i, during which I learned so much about the native and hanai plants that serve to heal our bodies/minds/spirits.  He was such and inspiration to thousands of students and patients throughout Hawai’i.  He is dearly missed, and may all of us who received the blessing of la’au lapa’au from him carry on his legacy in whatever ways we are able. Mahalo, Kumu Ohai, for sharing your mana’o and your love with us…fair winds and safe harbors!  Aloha....

Ali’i Nui Visit Our Class!

We were so blessed to have King Mana Pere and High Chief Miko from Tahiti and Ali’i Nui Aleka Aipoalani and Ali’i Wahine Mo’i Antoinette of Atooi come to visit and present to our class.  Each one of them presented their heartfelt mana’o concerning the importance of unity in Polynesia and how interconnected we all are to One Source, Kumukahi, Akua.  We all learned of the T-MAK Union, which is an organization comprising most of the nations within, but not limited to, the Polynesian Triangle.  We also learned about how the Polynesian Kingdom of Atooi (PKOA) is at the upper apex, or po’o (head) of the triangle, with the other two apex being Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Atearoa (New Zealand).  Some nations outside of the geographical triangle are included in the T-MAK union.  It was also stressed how important our work, as lomi therapists, is to our communities, keeping the culture alive and Bringing The Healers Back Into The Families! For more information on T-MAK and PKOA, visit www.atooination.com Mahalo...

Outreach with Na Kupuna

One of the most important things we wish to impress on our students is the concept of kokua, caring for/giving back, for our community.  Our first class has been introduced to the kupuna with Alu Like, both in Waimea and Anahola, and we have had a wonderful time providing lomilomi with our loving hands.  The students find that they receive much more than they give, through stories, mentorship and plenty aloha from the beautiful elders that they are touching.  It is our wish that each and every student will continue with this beautiful work long after they have finished at Aloha...

2011 Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade!

Aloha Lomi Massage Academy participated in the annual Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade on December 17 with a lighted electric car and a wagon full of keiki.  Our wonderful apprentices walked along with our “floats”, handing out candy to the keiki along the route and passing out flyers announcing our new community clinic, with $30 apprentice massages!  There were hundreds of residents and visitors all along the route, enjoying the beautiful floats, bands, and marchers who participated.  It was a beautiful evening, and the town of Waimea was lit up so beautifully.  We have had an incredible response to our clinic already, with many coming in for massages after seeing our lighted vehicles, which were both green!...

Polynesian Canoes Arrive in Hanalei

We were so blessed here on Kaua’i to greet the Polynesian Canoes into Hanalei Bay in the first part of July.  There were six canoes, in all, and they have been voyaging throughout the Pacific since early April.  Hundreds of people were on the beach to welcome the canoes and their voyagers, who stayed five days and were treated to much aloha from Kaua’i islanders.  The canoes departed from Hanalei earlier than expected, and most are on their way to San Francisco Bay.  Many blessings to the voyagers on this historic and importance reconnection of all Polynesian nations.  To follow their progress: ...
