Advanced Techniques Classes (40-120 hours)
Course Content – Level 2
A 4 hour class is offered once a week in Advanced techniques. In these we will discuss different pathologies and the anatomy/physiology relating to them and the area we will be working on. Each week we will also learn a mini routine using advanced techniques in one specific area of the body. Some of the modalities that are included in advanced techniques are:
* Trigger point/shiatsu therapy
* Introduction to structural integration
* Advanced lomilomi techniques
* Aromatherapy
* Low back/sciatica Issues
* Pregnancy massage
* Reflexology
* Head, Neck and Shoulder Issues
* Working with energy
* Lomi’ili’ili (Hawaiian Hot Stone Therapy)
Hands-on supervised massage (230-310 hours)
A student massage clinic is offered to the public so that the students can work on different body types with different ‘conditions’. With each client there will be individual instruction depending on the needs of the client, including assessment, application of techniques and home care (i.e. stretches and hydrotherapy). The hours of these clinics are flexible, designed to work with individual students schedules.
Sanitation
Students will be instructed in the Hawaii State laws regarding sanitation, and will then be responsible for adhering to them whilst in clinic.
Office Procedures
The many faceted approach to running a private business will be discussed and modeled. The paperwork involved, client rapport, accounting, answering the phone and taxes are some of the areas that will be covered.
Clients are asked to fill out an intake form at their first massage, and students are responsible for keeping history notes for each session. These forms are used to discuss clients and the approach to current and future sessions.
Advanced class tuition is $60 for each 4 hour class ( each student must take at least 10 classes, and more will be offered).
